About the Sacramento County Methamphetamine Coalition

The goal of the Methamphetamine Coalition is to identify and implement initiatives addressing the methamphetamine use problem and reducing meth use and its impact in Sacramento County. In partnership with Sacramento County Division of Behavioral Health Services, Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Services, we are educating the community about the dangers of meth use, helping all citizens of Sacramento County find equitable access to treatment services.

The Meth Coalition has five subcommittees:

  1. Enforcement

  2. Engaging the Medical Community

  3. Prevention and Treatment

  4. Public Education and Media

  5. Special Populations

UNITING THE COMMUNITY

Each year, the Methamphetamine Coalition hosts four online meetings to

  • discuss subcommittee work and actions

  • hear from and engage with lived-experience speakers

  • get feedback from the community and stakeholders

  • present strategic planning

  • discuss county and statewide impacts of meth use

  • examine meth’s impact on local systems, including individuals experiencing homelessness, healthcare, criminal justice, law enforcement, emergency response, child welfare, and policy decisions.

These meetings resulted in the formation of five distinct subcommittees, each led by the county: Enforcement, Engaging the Medical Community, Prevention and Treatment, Public Education and Media, and Special Populations. In the forthcoming coalition meetings, these subcommittees will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the action steps outlined in the groundbreaking Sacramento County Methamphetamine Coalition strategic plan.
